This soot sponge is a cleaning tool that wipes the soot clean and does not smear "wet" soot and embed the molecules into the structure.

Restoring fire and smoke damage can be tricky. Interesting enough not ever fire is the same. A protein fire (burnt food) is different than say a structure (wood) fire. An oil based puff back from a furnace malfunction is different from a cooking grease fire. Since they burn differently, they need to be cleaned differently.
